It’s been a string of busy months for the team here leading up to the conference, especially with finalizing the list of renowned speakers to go together with the stacked agenda that we’ve prepared for our audience.
Our attendees should prepare themselves to witness and engage with some of the biggest names in the industry — some of which are speaking for the first time in the Southeast Asia region. Here are some of the key movers and shakers in the space that you must meet at Beyond Blocks Summit Bangkok.
Alongside founding three cryptocurrency-related start-ups, Charles has held a variety of posts in both the public and private sectors. He was the founding chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation’s education committee and established the Cryptocurrency Research Group in 2013. At his online school — the Bitcoin Education Project — he met Vitalik Buterin, and soon after he became one of the co-founders of Ethereum. After multiple disagreements, Charles left Ethereum and started this new project — called IOHK — with former Ethereum colleague Jeremy Wood, who’s also speaking in Bangkok.
Wei Zhou serves as CFO at Binance. Wei brings over 15 years of executive experiences at leading technology, internet and media companies, where he has built up particular expertise in financial management and accounting, capital markets and investments, as well as growing and scaling business operations in both China and the United States.
Previously, Wei served as CFO of Zhaopin.com and Charm Communications and led these companies through their IPO listings on the NYSE and NASDAQ. In addition, he orchestrated the landmark acquisition of Grindr, the world’s leading LGBTQ+ social networking platform, where he currently serves as the Vice Chairman. Wei started his career at Goldman Sachs Hong Kong in Investment Banking and later moved to its Asian Special Situations Group.
Wei graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and East Asian studies.
Gigi is a founding partner of NFX, a $150M leading seed venture firm in Silicon Valley and Israel. He is a founder and investor in many technology start-ups such as Playtika, Kenshoo, Plarium, MyHeritage, Optimove, Houseparty, R2Net, SimilarWeb, NanoRep, Replay Technology, SpaceApe, inceptionVR and others. Gigi serves on the Supervisory Board of Bertelsmann as well as on the EMEA client advisory council of Facebook.
Prior to NFX, Gigi served as the CEO of 888 Holdings, a leading online gaming entertainment company. Earlier Gigi served as a division president in Amdocs as well as other senior roles. Before entering the business world, Gigi served as a pilot in the Israeli Air Force.
Bhume Bhumiratana is a researcher, educator and practitioner in cybersecurity. He received his Ph.D. from University of California, Davis in 2009, with specialization in Application Security Design, Privacy Design and Implementation, and Modern Cryptography. Bhume works as a technology consultant for the Security and Exchange Commissioner Office, Thailand (SEC) providing advice and consulting in the area of technology, such as cybersecurity, Blockchain, FinTech and RegTech.
His other roles include Thai FinTech Association advisor, and advisor for several leading businesses, providing strategic advice/guidance in the area of cybersecurity and blockchain. He also holds a position as Committee member of the National Cybersecurity Preparedness Commission.
Prinn began his career as an analyst in the corporate finance sector in London, actively promoting UK investments into Asean as Vice Chairman of the Asean-UK Business Forum (AUBF). He then joined Deutsche Bank Tisco Securities as Vice President when he returned back to Thailand, and was appointed as head of sales in 2007 by the CLSA — where he was ranked number one in institutional sales by the AsiaMoney Poll. He is a Governor on the board of Governors of The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) as well as being on the Board of Directors of the Association of Thai Securities Companies (ASCO).
The Thai government has appointed him to the Boards of Executive Director of the National Innovation Agency (NIA) and the Electronic Transactions and Development Agency (ETDA). He is also on the executive committees of the New Economy Academy (Ministry of Commerce) and Foundation on Anti-Corruption of Thailand (FACT).
Justin is the Head of Business Development, Asia for Cumberland — a DRW Company, one of the world’s largest liquidity providers in crypto assets. After joining DRW in 2015 as a global macro proprietary trader, he transferred internally and is now focused on helping the Cumberland team expand and grow its business in Asia.
Prior to DRW, Justin was a global macro trader at hedge fund Citadel, where he specialized in trading and managing portfolios of foreign exchange and liquid futures. Justin started his career as a distressed debt and securities analyst within the hedge fund industry.
Justin earned a BS in economics and psychology from Columbia University and was Captain of the Men’s Varsity Tennis Team.
John is the Chief Growth Officer at Kenetic. He served as an advisor on Bluzelle, Airswap, Simple Token & Gibraltar Blockchain Exchange token sales. John is also founder and former CEO of CutPaste. John has 15+ years of experiences in Product, UX, and Experiential Design. He has a BSE in Electrical Engineering, University of Illinois, Urbana/Champaign.
Ding An has more than 10 years of venture capital and private equity investment experiences in technology companies. He formerly managed Warburg Pincus’ TMT investments in China and South East Asia. Multiple unicorn investments include Uxin, NIO, Kuaishou, Inke, Liepin, Ziroom, Mobike, Gojek and Playdom.
He founded Ledger Capital in 2017, an accelerator of blockchain projects, a token investor and a quant fund. Ledger Capital incubated Red Pulse, Apex Network and ICST, and invested in Gifto, Origin Protocol, Carry Protocol, NOS etc.
